Poseidon was a god of many talents. He fashioned creatures for the sea and the land. He was induced, by some very clever mortals, to compete with Athene for the dedication of a new city. Athene presented the mortals with the olive tree and Poseidon gave them the horse. The new was city was named Athens but the gift of the horse was never forgotten even though it came in second place.
The sponges are nice but the shell fish taste better.
